Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a method that helps a person to correct specific errors in what he or she is thinking that produce negative or painful feelings. These unhelpful thoughts often influence the person on a behavioral level and result in choices or reactions that are not helpful.  The focus of CBT is to explore alternate ways of thinking about a situation in order to change the feelings and behavioral responses associated with a specific situation.

 Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

  • MBCT is a modified form of cognitive therapy that incorporates mindfulness practices such as meditation and breathing exercises. Using these tools, MBCT therapists teach clients how to break away from negative thought patterns that can cause a downward spiral into a depressed state so they will be able to fight off depression before it takes hold.

Structural Family Therapy

  • Structural Family Therapy is a strength-based, outcome-oriented treatment modality that addresses repeated patterns of family interactions and how these interactions impact behaviors.  With this approach, a family works to understand the breakdown of the family subsystems and the boundaries between these subsystems and how they interact in a way to shape behaviors and family dynamics.

Strategic Family Therapy

  • Strategic Family Therapy is a solution-oriented, brief type of therapy offered to families where the therapist guides the family through the process of identifying conflicts and designing solutions for those conflicts by assessing repeated patterns of interactions and evaluating and re-configuring the family hierarchy.
